Isolation of Antigen from Ox Retina Causing Experimental Uveitis in Rat

Abstract

|
The experimental uveitis in rat was caused by immune response with the antibody and sensitized cells introduced by intraretinal soluble antigen (S antigen) of ox. S antigen was partialy purified by several steps from ox retina and the
characteristics of
partially purified s antigen were investigated. @ES The results obtained were as follows :
@EN 1. Experimental uveitis in rat was shown at 16th day after injection.
2. Zintraretinal soluble proteins of guinea pig and ox showed partial homology by immunodiffusion method.
3. Partially purified S antigen was composed of several different complexes and the molecular weight of major part was between 47,000 and 54,000.
4. The substance showing antigen specificity was revealed just behind the major protein substance by gel filtration.
5. In guinea pig autoantibodies were produced by intraretinal soluble substance and these autoantibodies showed cross-reactivity with s antigen of ox retina.
